Large White Einar Luterkort Table Lamp by Upsala Ekeby, Sweden, 1940s

Large Art Deco Table Lamp by the Swedish sculptor and designer Einar Luterkort for Upsala-Ekeby. The lamp was produced during the 1940's.

Bold, tapering form with a broad shoulder and gently narrowing neck with a luminous white creamy glaze. The surface is animated by a distinctive relief depicting figures, gracefully integrated into the curvature of the vessel.
The lamp base has a Ekeby sticker but no stamp.

Good vintage condition. No damages or structural issues.
Normal wear consistent with age and use.

Einar Luterkort (1905-1981)
Einar studied at Kungliga Konsthögskolan in Stockholm 1926-29, École des Beaux-Arts in Paris 1929, Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma 1930 and at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste München 1931.

He had his first solo exhibition in Rome in 1930. In 1931 he moved back to Sweden and worked at Upsala-Ekeby for a short period. During the mid-1930s he also worked at Motala Lerkärlsfabrik as a designer.
