Large White Einar Luterkort Floor Vase Model 169 by Upsala Ekeby, Sweden, 1930s

Large Art Deco vase by the Swedish sculptor and designer Einar Luterkort for Upsala-Ekeby. A striking Scandinavian floor vase - vase model 169 - designed by Lutherkort 1931-32 and produced between 1939 and 1948.

The vase features a bold, tapering form with a broad shoulder and gently narrowing neck, finished in a luminous white creamy glaze. The surface is animated by a distinctive relief depicting a stylized nude female figure, gracefully integrated into the curvature of the vessel.
The vase is marked EKEBY 169.

Good vintage condition with normal wear consistent with age and use. No damages or structural issues but the glaze is uneven on some areas and there is a yellow dot / stain, see pictures.

Einar Luterkort (1905-1981)
Einar studied at Kungliga Konsthögskolan in Stockholm 1926-29, École des Beaux-Arts in Paris 1929, Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma 1930 and at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste München 1931.

He had his first solo exhibition in Rome in 1930. In 1931 he moved back to Sweden and worked at Upsala-Ekeby for a short period. During the mid-1930s he also worked at Motala Lerkärlsfabrik as a designer.
