A large and very stylish Art Deco vase by the Swedish sculptor and designer Einar Luterkort, for Upsala-Ekeby. A striking Scandinavian floor vase - vase model 169 - designed by Lutherkort 1931-32 and produced between 1939 and 1948. This large-scale ceramic piece exemplifies the sculptural elegance of Swedish art pottery from the mid-20th century.
The vase features a bold, tapering form with a broad shoulder and gently narrowing neck, finished in a luminous white creamy glaze. The surface is animated by a distinctive relief depicting a stylized nude female figure, gracefully integrated into the curvature of the vessel. The figure’s elongated lines and soft modeling create a subtle interplay between form and decoration.
The vase has no stamp.
Good vintage condition. No damages or structural issues. Normal wear consistent with age and use.

Einar Luterkort (1905-1981)
Einar studied at Kungliga Konsthögskolan in Stockholm 1926-29, École des Beaux-Arts in Paris 1929, Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma 1930 and at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste München 1931.
He had his first solo exhibition in Rome in 1930. In 1931 he moved back to Sweden and worked at Upsala-Ekeby for a short period. During the mid-1930s he also worked at Motala Lerkärlsfabrik as a designer.
